An asbestos testing kit is great for smaller businesses or residential homeowners who do not wish to hire a professional asbestos removal company. When purchasing an asbestos kit, there are several things that you should consider.  First of all, we highly recommend that if you do an at-home kit, that you purchase a kit from a reputable reseller.  If you purchase one from a retailer that you trust, you’ll get a fully tested setup.  If you try to make one yourself, you have to remember that you’ll be the guinea pig and when messing with asbestos, that’s not a job that I would volunteer for.

An asbestos testing kit really isn’t that expensive to purchase when considering the nasty cancer causing fibers that it will remove from your families breathing paths.  You’ll get a full gear, which includes head protection, goggles and long sleeves.  Your body will be draped with overalls and you’ll be provided with gloves and feet protection.  The most important component will be your breathing apparatus.

Again, we strongly and highly recommend that you do not attempt to build your own asbestos testing kit unless you are a trained asbestos abatement specialist and you have years of experience doing this.  As we’ve mentioned before in our other posts, an undisrupted asbestos fiber is not harmful to you.  It’s only when the fibers become airborne that they become deadly.  For this reason, if you attempt to rid your home of this fiber, and you are untrained, you might just cause more damage than good.  Be caution!
